It's a stormy day when Julia Combe and Max Friedman Fly from London to Cornwall to visit the grave of Julia's daughter Charlotte. The young woman had taken many years ago the life, the exact circumstances were never known. Julia It is not easy to return to deal with her past, she would like the other members of the family after all these years to meet in any way and as quickly as possible to London.

Julia is released from the hospital. After over twenty years of her unhappy marriage to Stephen Combe was divorced, she moved to London. Abby decides secretly to go to the funeral of her grandmother to Max Friedman once to see up close. After Max's death Julia is struggling with financial difficulties, they must be different from some of his photographs . The financial plight of Julia finally forces to go away from London and relate to her little cottage on Endellion, which was awarded to her after the divorce.
